I started playing piano at age 8; a neighbor had a piano and I started hitting only the black keys: easy to get something sounding not that bad just using the black keys (either F#major with the 2nd & 6th or D#minor etc.). So, I wanted to take lessons, did so until age 13 or so, not the most inspiring teachers, but then perhaps I wasn't the most inspiring student. Anyway, came the mid-sixties and I got back into it, played keyboard (organ, electric piano) in a few rock bands from 1966-1980s, on and off. Then came MIDI and one could make a whole band on one's own. Other than just jamming around, I only completed two sets of songs (albums, sort of), one in 1988-89, one in 2011: those are the sets of songs one may listen to at the links herein. You can listen to and download them at SoundCloud or download each set in its respective entirety here. Both sets are in MP3 format (compressed from the AIFF files). The 2011 set was created with Apple's Logic and a mini keyboard (kind of like the mini keys, less distance moving the fingers across the board and pushing the keys down); the 1989 set was created utilizing a Mac plus, MIDI and Sample software of the time, a keyboard synthesizer and recorded on a Tascam porta one (if I recall the name correctly) and I further "polished" the 1989 set using Logic sporadically over the past few years (2004-2011) mostly getting rid of some noise and compressing the sound a bit. |
